SJ is one week!

Today little Savannah is one week old!

Happy Birthday little sweet one!

I'd have to say that my current state of being is: pure euphoria. We are sitting around snuggling and kissing our little babies and playing and laughing and thanking God that they are here around us, happy and healthy. He answered our prayers with a full term baby and a safe delivery. Great is His faithfulness! I was even a week over my due date! Ha ha, an early one and a late one. God surely has a sense of humor. Maybe next time I should be bit more specific.

We think Kate has decided that her little "siser" is quite alright when she walked over to the couch and saw Savannah's little balled up fist and said "knuckles" and gave her a little pound. It was a priceless moment! She is really a great big sister...I was changing SJ's diaper and she came over and picked it up off the floor and went and threw it in the trash for me without even being asked! She gives her the pacifier and tries to wipe her with a wipe too! Yesterday on the way to the doctor, she went and grabbed her little dolly, Emma. Since mamma was carrying a baby, I guess she needed to too.

Well, I could go on and on and well, I just might do it! It's my blog....hee hee and no one is making you read this. I am so full and happy, more than I have ever been before. To have a baby that sleeps in the night...and is not in pain, awesome! Last night SJ slept for 6 hour straight! She eats great and at her docs appt yesterday, she had already gained 3 oz. The nurse checked twice just in case the scale was wrong and she said she hadn't seen that by 5 days before! So, she is apparently getting enough milk! PTL!

Our Bundle of Savannah Joy

Our little bundle of Joy has arrived!

She was a born on July 28th 2010 @ 10:09 pm via C section at St Jude, Fullerton.

She is 7 lbs. and 13 oz and is 21 inches long.

We are so excited and she is so wonderful...I have been cuddling her in the hospital since she came- I can hardly let her go! She is eating so well, and sleeping fine too. Kate is very funny...she has her little sympathetic cries for Savannah (she cries when other kids or babies cry or when she sees someone get hurt).

But all in all, she has decided she might be okay with having her around (sometimes), we'll see!

For those of you who have been asking, here are the birth details-

I went into "early labor" Monday night and Wednesday at my doctors appt. had dilated to 3cm. The doc said I was ready! I was going to have a baby! Except for one small problem....I was in denial...is this really it? This is what it feels like (I was having very heavy contractions but not at regular intervals for nearly 48 hours at this point). I am so "by the book"...what a dork.

So, I went home, I thought I had a bit of time. That wasn't the best idea... (very strong contractions that were unbearable) so I went back to the hospital after getting Kate to nap and explaining care instructions to Ruth (Thanks Ruth!!)

At the hospital things progressed well, until I stopped dilating, Savannah's heart rate dropping and I got the news I feared most. I wasn't able to deliver naturally- they needed to take her, because her cord was wrapped around her stomach and neck (we found out later).

Cesarean went well (much better than last time) and I was awake when she came to us and she nursed so well right away. It has been another interesting learning experience that life is not in our control and when I finally decided to "let go" of what I wanted and just give it to the Lord, things went a lot better for me.

All that to say, she is here, happy and healthy and we are feeling very blessed!!

About to Pop

WE are about to pop with anticipation for Savannah Joy to come....

who is now officially 5 days late....

HAPPY 35TH BIRTHDAY!!!

Today is my sweet husband's 35th birthday.... so today will be marked with Starbucks, Reese cups, and Mexican food and lots of kisses!

It has been great to reflect on all he means to me and now to Kate and soon to Savannah as well.

Happy Birthday Honey! You are a wonderful husband, daddy, and friend.

I love you so much! Let's celebrate!!!!!!!

Good news

Today was my first NST (non-stress test) for Savannah.

She was very well behaved and actively kicked around for all to see that she is happy where she is and not coming out today! All fluids were normal, heart rate was varied (a good thing) and movement was wonderful too.

Then the ultrasound tech let me see her face. She just kept the wand over her face and I got to see her open and close her little eyes and yawn and open and close her mouth, it was amazing! She is so pretty!

We are so excited to meet our little girl...we've been sitting around at night dreaming of her and talking about what she will be like and what it will be like with Kate as the big sister.

I am in love with her already!

EWWWEY!! YUCK!

This morning, while busy cleaning, we had just finished brushing our teeth. Kate brushes a little longer than me usually (she likes to chew on her brush, what kid doesn't?)

Well, I noticed that Kate had some water on her hands and in her tooth brush and wasn't sure where it was from until I did some detective work and found drops of water on the toilet seat....

there is no other place it could've come from...

It's official, Kate brushes her teeth with toilet water.

Awesome.

Michael just returned from a weekend retreat, leaving Thursday afternoon and returning home Sunday afternoon. Although it's hard to be apart, it is well worth the time investment.

As a blessing from a friend, he got to go to Hume lake and be encouraged in His faith and His leadership of our home. And as for me and Kate, we got real thankful real fast...as hard as I try not to take my husband for granted, a weekend apart always makes me realize that I just do naturally. I am spoiled, and I am the first to admit. I am treated like a queen and when my king isn't home, he is greatly missed!

Welcome home honey! We missed you!!

The guys had a great time, catching 50 fish in one day (it was a Fisherman's conference). I think this is Michael's 3rd time going and he just loves it!. They do paint-ball and apparently they eat like royalty...

The following photos are by Rick Laird. Aren't they awesome! This was the sunset the guys saw on the way up to the conference. It was snowing and the sun was reflecting off the white snowy trees.

Kate kept me very busy while her daddy was gone...but we had a nice time together.

Every day is an adventure with this little one...here is Kate practicing her "'emotion" faces. Hilarious!

Not much else going on here, Savannah is kicking wildly within and I am going about doing my little nesting tidbits...like a little mother hen. I have been sewing non- stop. Right now I am working on a car seat canopy. Should be fun.
