Home Sick....

Look at this pitiful face!! Doesn't it say...
"Hold me mom, I am sick!"

We've been a bit under the weather...Each week, when we go to church and put the kids in the nursery, the following Tuesday they come down with a cold!! It is sometimes easy to get discouraged- at times you feel cut off from the rest of the world! We miss church, and the fellowship that church brings.

I read a very encouraging blog from another mom about this. So, for all my young mom friends click here.

http://theeastmanchronicles.blogspot.com/2011/04/one-of-our-best-friends.html

Here's a funny little happening I had to share:

Freshly diapered from their baths I went into the kitchen to get a glass of water, and I was thinking to myself, " how nice, the girls are playing together in their room so quietly." That thought turned into..."man, they are really quiet." To...."GIRLSSS!!!"

This is what I found.

What is that white stuff you ask?

That, my friends, is Desitin. (To all my friends without children....that's) DIAPER CREAM and it ain't called 'cream' for no reason. It is an oily mess under water...so, bathtime number 2 took a bit longer.

You can't really tell from the pictures, but Kate had laid it on thick. She used like half a bottle of the desitin on Savannah. She looked like the Austrailan aboriginals we visited in Australia!

And the funniest part, Savannah was standing there, very still, letting her do it! She is so cute. Wanting to take part in everything sister does. Kate has even started telling us what Savannah is trying to say.

And, last night before bed, Kate said, "Mommy, tell me a verse."

So, while praying for a verse to give her on the spot, I remembered the one I am memorizing. Remain in me and you will bear much fruit. So I recited it to her.

She looked at me and said, "yeah, fruit cocktail!"

My two cuties...

Today I noticed that I had Savannah in an outfit that I remembered Kate having a cute picture in- so I fished it out, we grabbed the camera, and took a pic of SJ!

It was fun noting the similarities and differences!

Savannah is 9 months today and.... Kate is 11 months in this picture.

Of course, it wasn't without it's challenges...here is the progression for your enjoymjent.

Off to Tennessee

It has been a long and grueling 2 weeks of teething and packing, (Savannah did the teething, we did the packing) but now...

VACATION TIME!

We are headed to TN in the morning, 5 am sharp.... and we are so excited! We couldn't move tomorrow if we wanted to, so this (previously planned) vacation is a much needed blessing from God.

Bloggiebatical

Hi faithful readers,

It is time for a bloggiebatical.

I need a break from my documenting - but for a good reason!!

Firstly, at the end of the month, grammy and grampy are flying us home to visit!! We are really excited...Kate has been walking around saying, "I'm going on a plane to see my grandma, and my little Shelley and my little Keith." That's verbatum.
So cute!

Secondly....

We are moving...relocating, getting the heck outta here, hitting the road jack, making a move, out like Clout, getting a new address, breaking free, making a change,.... you get the point.
And life is not allowing much room for sitting around thinking about what I am going to write about. I just found icecream in the refrigerator today..if that tells you anything about the craziness of my life.

With that said- here are some videos of my kiddos (the smartest in the world, or my small world that is!)and they will have to last you for awhile.

This is not staged. One afternoon the girls were playing together on the bed and Savannah rolled the ball to Kate every time. These are the parts I caught on camera. Enjoy and we'll update you on our crazy life in uh, about 10 years.... hee hee!

Sunbeams

We have the morning sun streaming into our kitchen, it's so beautiful and warm on a wintery morning. I love how it played on Kate's hair as she was playing...so I wanted to remember it, forever (like all the other moments...ahhh! How am I ever going to keep this up??hee hee)

Give your toddler a bowl of beans, water and utensils and sit back and practice your photography...she cooks, I shoot. Everybody's happy!

I really liked this series...all photos untouched original.

To cut my hair or not to cut my hair

I thought long and hard before I picked up a pair of scissors and began to trim my hair in front of my 2 year old. "This just can't be a good idea" I thought to myself. Especially since I gave her a pair of shears for Christmas.

I decided that the fact that I cut my hair will remain a best kept secret of mommy's for now.

It shall go on the "things to do without a toddler around" list.

A fun week...

...with lots of new firsts...

This week was the first time- I caught the girls playing together (without me around to facilitate),

Savannah tried some rice cereal and peas... (looks like she's going to be an eating machine- ...already is!),

Kate received an easel, and learned how to read the first couple of letters from the alphabet (through A- H. I mean, it's one thing to sing the song, but to READ them!!! ah, I am so excited!),

Kate went to the big kids class at church (they found her in the little restroom sitting across from another kid and they said, "Kate what are you doing?" She said simply, "I'm watching him go poo poo" totally logical to her.....),

Kate has gone potty all week!! (for a small fee of blue gum of course).

Here's a sneak peek into our lives this week...

There have been some really comical moments this week too...for instance, we were on Biola's campus passing the tennis courts. We asked her what you play tennis with and she said, " a coat rack"- she got the rack part but we just had to explain it was a racket. Pretty close!

Later, Michael and I were playing volleyball while she played in the sand and she looked up and said, "Hey Guys, are you done?" It's so strange/fun to have a big (little) girl who "hangs out" with us....

We were kissing in the kitchen and she came in, apparently feeling a bit left out. She said in a demanding voice..."I need a huck (hug) and a kiss, too. We each grabbed an arm and pulled her up for one of our favorite "group hugs" and she said (for the first time) "UMMM!~ I love my mommy, I love my daddy!" ....followed by two kisses. Gosh! I love this kid. Goodness, I mean.

Then today, I was laying on my stomach on the bed talking to Michael while he was putting something in the closet and before I knew it, I felt a warm little body beside me. She had propped her little self right on her tummy just like me and put her hands under her chin. I looked over at her, full of joy, just discovering who she is becoming...

If you are still reading...you must be a grammy, an crazed auntie... or a really good friend. I could talk about these little sweeties all day...and heck, I think I will, it's my blog.

*wink!

Company Restructure

Today, it was time to take inventory of our company, our basic standard operating unit.

Who can stay, who needs to go?

We do this routinely.

I'm thinkin' I'll only keep the two smiley ones in the middle...

It's about that time....

for the saying...

"Kids say the darndest things".

I was changing Kate's diaper yesterday and she told me, "Thanks, little lady!"

And tonight, "I'm tired, take a bath, I STINKY!"

In the Costco check out line at the top of her lungs she said, "Praise ye the Lord- HALLELUJAH!"

And lately, our little evangelist has been asking people, "how bout Jesus?"

That is a good question.

How 'bout Him? Sometimes a 2 year old can really put life into perspective.

PS Taking a blog break for now (unless something crazy happens that I can't stand not writing about). The holidays are coming and crafts are waiting to be done...

HAPPY 35TH BIRTHDAY!!!

Today is my sweet husband's 35th birthday.... so today will be marked with Starbucks, Reese cups, and Mexican food and lots of kisses!

It has been great to reflect on all he means to me and now to Kate and soon to Savannah as well.

Happy Birthday Honey! You are a wonderful husband, daddy, and friend.

I love you so much! Let's celebrate!!!!!!!

This is the verse the Lord gave me for you today:

Blessed are all who fear the LORD,
who walk in his ways.

You will eat the fruit of your labor;
blessings and prosperity will be yours.

Your wife will be like a fruitful vine
within your house;
your sons will be like olive shoots
around your table.

Thus is the man blessed
who fears the LORD.

Psalm 128:1-4

KATE IS HERE!!!

Kate came a little earlier than we expected, but just in God's perfect timing.

She was born at 32 weeks and was 3 lbs and 11 oz but she is very healthy!! Praise God! The miracle story will be blogged in the near future.
I hope this news is sufficient to explain my tardiness in the upkeep of my blog, I have much more important things to do now *tee hee*- like grow a human being...well, God is doing that, but I do have to feed. Speaking of, it's about that time again...

Tried video upload- I waited 15 minutes and it said there was an error- grr...will try again later.. sorry Shells.
