My 28th birthday

Yesterday I turned 28 years old.

It was a good day to reflect on my life,

and where the Lord has brought me thus far.

Let me just say this:

My life is full, and rich.

I lack no good thing.

God is the giver of every good and perfect gift.

My birthday was no exception.

I was surrounded by love-

showered with blessings.

Thank you, Lord.

Girls, girls, girls

I am having so much fun with all this girly stuff!

Kate got a little dolly, we named her Emma, and we are hoping to train her to treat the baby kindly so she can be prepared for Savannah! So far, let's just say we are a bit rough so we'll see.

Kate and I have been cooking, baking, and sewing and it's been so fun to also dream of the future. I hope the girls like crafts as much as I do (...but that's okay if they don't!).

I am just laughing today that I said I wanted all boys and thought I would be a better mom to boys. Anyone remember that? God knows us so much better than we know ourselves.

I am quite happy making dresses and doll clothes in all pink for now.

This is fun!

Neglectful Parent

Yesterday we were at a birthday party at a church playground. Michael had been watching Kate most of the time and I was chatting with the ladies. At some point, he gave her to me and I was so wrapped up in my socializing that I failed to notice that Kate had been wisked away by a younger girl (about 5) and was headed towards the spiral slide that looked similar to this.



About the time I looked up, Kate was in route down the slide in an upside down fashin, on her back- alone!! In slow- mo I bounded towards her, as fast as this prego body could take me, only to witness her little body hitting the ground. I was thinking, "I can't believe this is happening!!"

It was the first of many falls and thankfully she was okay...it was like an angel carried her to the playground floor gently, because she hardly shed a tear. It could've been quite a different outcome, and thankfully, she shot out so fast, she landed more on her back than her head!! Thank you, Jesus!

At MOPS on Tuesday of last week, we planted herbs and flower seeds and in ONE week, this is my flower! I am so excited, like a kid in science class. Thanks Eileen!

It's a GIRL!!!

We are so excited. Yesterday at my doctor's appointment we found out we are expecting another baby GIRL!! We all got to see the utltrasound and she was just swimming around in there...

Her name is Savannah Joy Clark!!!

Also, the doctor (a high risk specialist) says my pregnancy looks healthy and is not concerned about the risk of delivering another premature baby. This news gave me such joy (though I must say, the Lord has already given me great peace on this as well)! I actually slept the whole night through last night...that's sayin' somethin!

It was cause to celebrate for sure so we made Michael's favorite cake and even Kate had some of the icing!

Every parent thinks their kid is advanced ( well, at least the ones I've met ). I am no exception. I remember seeing blogs of my friends who already had children, posting videos of the kids barely crawling or just learning to walk. I would think to myself..." wow, those must be some proud parents, that kid isn't even walking yet" But, now, I realize it was in the "trying" that was captured. I am now just like them... so enamored with each new thing Kate tries and does. It's simply the joy of parenthood.

There are so many things no one ever told me about what it would feel like to be a parent.

Here is my journaled list thus far.

No one told me that:

1. I'd go to bed each night wishing I had just a little more time with Kate, even though I was with her all day!

2. That I'd hate her nap times because I'd much rather her be awake.

3. That every morning is like Christmas morning when you get your child out of her crib and kiss her warm soft cheek.

4. That the sound of our baby's laughter makes our heart melt, we've decided it's the best sound we've ever heard.

5. That you witness a miracle every day as you watch them grow and accomplish new things.

6. How much closer to the heart of God one feels with a child.

7. How the work doesn't feel like work because you're so enraptured, enamored, and smitten with this little being.

8. How proud you feel of them when they achieve even the smallest accomplishment.

9.What abundance of joy comes from being needed, and how much you change as a person after feeling that deep responsibility.

10. How her joyful heart can lift my spirits so quickly.

11. Ho strong you become, yet how much less some strengths you thought you had now mean to you.

12. How much less judgmental you become towards other moms (and families)!!

13. How protective you become as a parent.

14. How cutting food into bite sized pieces in meal size portions 3 times a day makes you more patient, especially if your meal is cold when you finally get to it.

15. Lastly, no one told me what a step of faith having children is! You become so weak and vulnerable and utterly and desperately dependent upon the Lord like never before. Yet, he carries you day to day.

Allergic to Pregnancy

I was joking awhile back when I said I was "allergic" to pregnancy, but now, I am not laughing quite so hard.


I had another doc's appt today and am now being referred to a "high risk" OB "just in case" given my new rash. A rash I had with Kate, yet now since it is back, it seems to be recurring in pregnancies only and of course, could be linked to preterm delivery (along with every other infection I have had thus far). Seriously, I think I am allergic!!!

Please pray for this little baby when you think of him or her. I really need help with prayer right now. I know the Lord will have His way.

We discover the gender of our babe on March 3rd, so stay tuned!!

Kate is sleeping soundly and I have posted some pics of her in her new little dress for my sister's wedding. She will be the flower girl...She needs a little practice yet, so we will be throwing flowers on the floor out of the basket starting...uhmmm now.

Last week, Michael took me out on a surprise date, which was so much fun! He even got a babysitter!! Awesome! I was shocked, to say the least and we went and watched the world fall apart, in 2012. Very entertaining....

Well, I guess that's all for today, just a prayer call mostly.

Kate's first tooth and other musings...

Kate finally got her first tooth! Talk about a slow roaster! See the little white ridges on the right bottom side? I am so excited! Thank goodness she won't be the first kid in the world not to have teeth...whew!

Kate tried to imitate daddy and run for the first time, resulting in this little cute bump or "bo bo" as she calls it. It was quite a shiner.


And it has been raining and raining so we got creative and started a sewing project. This was my most complicated idea so far and it took by far the longest, but I think in the end, it will be worth it. Kate's new travel tote. (She likes to watch the machine make the stitches)

She has also had pneumonia and double ear infections, but is doing much better now. So we have had our hands full with our first full blown sickness. Thankfully, she has been so healthy in that respect up until this point.

A Rainy Day

Ahhh. today has been a fun rainy day at home for Kate and I- just something different, you know? We have been adventuresome in the kitchen and made some applesauce oatmeal muffins. Kate sat in my lap and decided that she liked those pretty well. I also made some deviled eggs for lunch (this is one of Michael's favorite side dishes and I have never made them before!!)

Later, When I sat Kate down to color, I went to get the video camera to film her and I came back and this is what I found...






You gotta love that girl!! Never a dull moment.

The language development is thus far, the most exciting part of watching Kate grow. She is copying and repeating so many things we say...more videos soon, it is not working at the moment...grrrrrr.

Today I also had a good parenting lesson as I found something "not trash" in the trash can. Well, I guess it was good to teach her how to throw something away...at first...
